DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP - Athens
Leica Akademie Greece continues Leica's long tradition of photographic education through experiential workshops. We are proud to offer this opportunity to gain from the experience and expertise photographer ENRI CANAJ (a MAGNUM Photos nominee on June 2017) .

Learn and improve how to build a documentary reportage by covering an editorial story. To refine storytelling and story composition by analyzing real-situation problems, images analysis and editing . Most of all, this workshop will help participants to discover their own visual language as well as practical and conceptual perspective, how to confront real situation reportage making.
This workshop will lead participants to develop their portfolios with distribution plans.
In this context, participants will have the opportunity to share and discuss their projects from conception to execution, and to discuss further opportunities for dissemination of their personal visual narratives.
Projections review of each participants portfolios.
Masterclass Projection and exchange around photography. Enri Canaj will present his past and more recent works.
Discussing with the participants and choosing the workshop theme that participants will photograph in the following workshop days in Athens.
Day 2 & 3
Participants working on the ground ( photography theme decided the previous day)
Afternoon meeting. Editing and discussion. Making choices about what images work the best and what sequence and context does for them. Where and how do you show your work?
Final portfolios editing and printing / Exchange around the best way of presenting one’s work.
5 p.m Final projections - review of each participants portfolios.
MAGNUM Photos Photographer
E. Canaj studied photography at the Leica Academy in Athens. In 2007 he took part in a British Council project on migration, attending a year-long workshop with Magnum photographer Nikos Economopoulos.
Since 2008, he has been a freelance photographer for major publications such as Time Lightbox , CNN Photo, New York Magazine, MSNBC Photography, Vice Magazine, The Financial Time, Newsweek, Paris Match, Le monde Diplomatique , sample of his work has been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Thessaloniki personal exhibition), Benaki Museum Athens, Museum of Photography Thesaloniki, BOZAR Center for Fine Arts Brussels , Cultural Foundation of the National Bank of Greece in Athens and Salonica, at the Bilgi Santral in Istanbul, the European Parliament in Brussels and the Athens Photo Festival, New Delhi Foto Festival, Doku Fest in Kosovo, Foto Art Festival in Poland, Bursa Foto Fest in Turkey.
Enri Canaj became MAGNUM Photos nominee on June 2017. He is currently working in the Balkans, focusing on migration and the recent crisis.
